Columbia Gas Transmission Corporation Models Operational Excellence by Integrating RCM and Work Management
Presented at the Reliability Conference, April 1999, Cincinnati, OH
In an effort to achieve operational excellence, Columbia Gas Transmission corporation felt it imperative to capture all of the financial and efficiency savings associated with an optimized maintenance process. The variability in their maintenance plans and procedures across seven states needed to be standardized. An integrated implementation of RCM and CMMS would provide the tools and process to achieve those goals.

A Maintenance Optimization Success Story
A Case Study for Improved Reliability and Profit Generation

Presented at the Reliability Conference, April, 1997, Phoenix, AZ.
This paper describes the maintenance optimization program that was installed and implemented at Dayton Power & Light. The primary target of this program was for equipment reliability improvement, O&M budget reduction, and extension of capital asset purchases associated with substation equipment.

Incorporate RCM into acceptance testing to detect latent defects
... Avoid warranty issues and premature failure

Presented at the 2001 International Joint Power Generation Conference, New Orleans, LA
This paper describes the need for RCM based technologies during acceptance, with examples from previous projects. It also develops the complete justification and model format for using RCM in the entire process from procurement through acceptance.

Use RCM for Acceptance Testing to Detect Installation Defects
..... Avoid premature failure

Presented at the Reliability Conference, April, 2001, Phoenix, AZ
This paper describes the need for RCM based technologies during the equipment design and acceptance phases of commissioning. It develops the justification for using RCM in the entire process from procurement through acceptance.

Capacity Improvement Through Maintenance Optimization
5 Essential Elements For Every Asset Management Program

Presented at the Hydrocarbon Processing Optimization Conference, April, 1997, Houston, TX.

This paper describes the essential elements associated with re-engineering plant operations and maintenance for improved capacity while simultaneously improving equipment reliability and lowering maintenance costs.

Substation Maintenance Optimization Program

Presented at the Distributech '98 Conference, Tampa, FL.

This paper describes the maintenance optimization program that was installed and implemented at Dayton Power & Light. This paper provides additional results and lessons learned to the paper that was presented at the Reliability conference eight months earlier.

Integrating SCADA, Diagnostics and CMMS for a World Class On-Line Diagnostic System

Presented at the Reliability Conference, April, 1998, Charlotte, NC.

This paper provides results of a RAM (Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability) study outlining a detailed plan for optimizing maintenance for TVA's substation operation. It included implementation of an on-line expert system.

Chemical Plant Productivity Doubles after Three Months of Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) Measurement
You Can’t Improve What You Can't Measure

Presented at the Reliability Conference, April, 2001, Phoenix, AZ

Manganese ore processing is a hot, hard and dirty business, leading to excessive breakdowns, minor stoppages, quality rejects, and startup losses. This paper describes how one chemical company started to measure OEE and doubled their production within three months.
